The performance features excerpts from the award-winning show Mama Juggs and new material focused on breast cancer. Anita portrays multiple characters in this performance, including her beloved great-grandma and mother Mable-Ree, a breast cancer experiencer. Together this family copes through humor while tapping into their community for support. They discover the perks of having cancer and Anita shares techniques for detecting breast cancer that may save a life. The performance is concluded with a 12 minute documentary about Anita Woodley’s mother that goes behind the scene of her doctor’s appointments and into her home as she deals with breast cancer at 47 years old. You’ll never view breast cancer the same way.


Shot by her daughter, Anita Woodley in 1998 as a freshman college class assignment, this mini documentary captures the behind-the scenes care of her mama Mable Marie Pierce-Glenn at 47 years old. She was given 2 months to live with breast cancer as it spread from her breast to her bones and organs. Join us for this journey, this promise Anita made to her mama to share her story with breast cancer in hopes that someone else would have their life spared from this disease and not be too afraid to return to the doctor.
